Now into the second week of optional mask use, Flint Hills Technical College administration says “things are going well.”
FHTC Vice President of Student Services Lisa Kirmer stated on the most recent installment of Tech Talk Tuesday morning that they have not had any active cases on campus since going mask optional. Additionally, she reports that there appears to be a more positive atmosphere within the college since the decision was made to lift the mask requirement last week.
Kirmer says more than anything she is just happy to see students and staff smiling once again.
Kirmer tells KVOE News the college has been closely following recommendations and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when it comes to mitigation strategies within the college and when the CDC made the decision to move away from required mask use it made sense for the college to follow its lead.
Required mask use is not the only COVID strategy that is being lifted this year as FHTC Vice President for Student Advancement Mike Crouch reports the college will be going back to full capacity for the annual FHTC Night of Inspiration Gala next month inside White Auditorium.
Crouch says while the event will not have an abundance of COVID-19 mitigation strategies this year, two changes to the event’s format that came about due to the pandemic last year will be returning.
Tickets are currently on sale for the event at FHTC.edu.
Tickets are $60 for individuals or $440 for a table of eight. The night will include both a live and silent auction with the silent auction taking place inside the auditorium’s Little Theatre. The Night of Inspiration Gala will take place on April 22.
All proceeds will benefit scholarships for FHTC students.
