West Valley Police officers arrested eight juveniles after a crash and chase that occurred during the early hours of Saturday.
According to Lt. Shane Matheson with the West Valley Police Department, at approximately 4:15 a.m. an officer located a stolen vehicle near 5600 W. 3500 South. The driver of the vehicle noticed the officer and immediately fled. Spikes were deployed in front of the vehicle's path, but the driver continued to flee from officers. The driver of the vehicle then attempted to turn onto 2700 South but took the turn too fast and crashed into the Noodles & Company building.
Officers discovered eight juveniles in the car believed to be between the ages of 13 to 16. Two of the juveniles are currently hospitalized for injuries, one having a broken arm and the second with a broken leg.
All eight juveniles are charged with underage consumption of alcohol, and the driver of the stolen vehicle will face additional charges for driving under the influence and fleeing from an officer.
Individuals charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
