Roger Mathews hopes ex-wife Jenni "JWoww" Farley and her now-ex-boyfriend, Zack Clayton Carpinello "can work through their issues," but only "if they deem [the relationship] worth saving."
The 33-year-old "Jersey Shore" star and the 24-year-old pro wrestler, who came to be known by her co-stars as "24," broke up earlier today following last night's episode of the MTV spin-off, "Jersey Shore: Family Vacation." Once Jenni saw how Zack was behaving with Angelina Pivarnick while at a nightclub in Las Vegas, JWoww called it quits.
"Although I haven't watched 'Jersey Shore' in years, of course people filled me in on what went down on last night's episode," Roger told Us Weekly. "I don't have much in the way for feelings about it as it is no longer my business or concern. I'm solely focused on being an involved and loving father to our two kids and still dedicated to my journey of personal growth."
But given that Zack's met and hung out with Jenni and Roger's two kids -- daughter Meilani, 5, and son Greyson, 3 -- Mathews is still somewhat invested.
"I want peace with my ex-wife for my kids, and if there is turmoil in her life and in her household, it's just not a good thing for our children, so I wish nothing but the best for her," he said. "I wish them all well, and I hope Jenni and Zack can work through their issues if they deem it worth saving. I'm focused on myself and my children. Onwards and upwards."
While careful not to blame the show or the network, Roger did say he felt choosing to participate in the reality series meant choosing to put your relationship at risk.
"The very premise and settings for the show make it incredibly hard on relationships both while filming and at home," he said. "I would never blame the show. It's a personal choice to be part of it, but I've always thought Sammi choosing her personal sanity and privacy by not participating in the new season spoke volumes about her character. Money is not everything."
Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro's ex-girlfriend, opted not to participate in the reboot, which is currently on Season 3. She is now getting ready to marry longtime boyfriend, Christian Biscardi, while Ronnie's dealing with legal issues, baby mama drama and his sobriety.
"I'm extremely happy and content where my life is at today and absolutely do not miss the drama related to the show," he insisted.
"Jersey Shore: Family Vacation" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on MTV.
