ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Fort Wayne’s NBC) - Rapid antigen COVID-19 tests will not be offered by the Allen County Department of Health starting Tuesday, Jan. 18, due to a statewide shortage.
The department said on Jan. 4 it is complying with Indiana Department of Health guidance and reserved rapid tests for anyone 18 and younger and symptomatic individuals ages 50 and older. For Friday, Jan. 14, the department says anyone in those groups can get a rapid test as supplies allow.
They say polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests are available to anyone, regardless of age or symptoms. PCR test results are typically available in 2-3 days, officials say.
The department’s public testing site, located at 5750 Falls Drive, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Appointments can be made online here.
