ANKARA
Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 16% to hit record high with 908,395 megawatt-hours on Monday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 17.00 local time with 43,387 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed.
The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 28,965 megawatt-hours at local time 07.00.
Electricity production totaled 905,726 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a 17% increase compared to the previous day.
The majority of the output came from natural gas plants at 216,331 megawatt-hours. Hydroelectricity power plants and imported coal plants followed with 199,943 megawatt-hours and 188,980 megawatt-hours, respectively.
On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 3,378 megawatt-hours, while imports reached 6,047 megawatt-hours.
