Aerial video and photos show eerie Disneyland ‘ghost town’ during coronavirus closure - OCRegister

A new aerial video and photos show the deserted walkways and vacant promenades of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during the coronavirus closures of the Anaheim theme parks.

The video and photos posted by the British news organization The Sun on Saturday, March 28 show aerial views shot by helicopter of the eerily empty Disney theme parks.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure remain closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 30-second video was provided to the United Kingdom news organization by KameraOne, a Netherlands-based media production company.

The video begins with a shot of the empty front gate area of Disneyland with the iconic Mickey Mouse floral garden in the background and the Disneyland railroad station on the park’s berm.

An aerial shot of Main Street U.S.A. shows the pedestrian-free entry promenade in a rare overhead view of the park. The camera zooms in on the shuttered Penny Arcade and Emporium gift shop near Disneyland’s Town Square.

Switching to Disney California Adventure, the video shows an aerial view of the Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris wheel standing still with its swinging cars motionless. The peopleless Pixar Pier is wrapped by the Incredicoaster track void of any moving coaster trains.

The aerial shot zooms out to offer a panoramic overhead view of DCA, Disneyland and Downtown Disney without the 78,000 visitors that jam the theme parks and shopping mall on a typical day.

The Sun published the aerial video and photos provided by KameraOne under the headline: Eerie aerial photos show Disneyland ‘ghost town’ after all rides closed in coronavirus lockdown

Helicopter shots of Disneyland are rare to see because the airspace over Disney theme parks is typically restricted.

The Anaheim theme parks have the same restricted airspace protections as the White House, major U.S. landmarks and sporting events. No-fly zone designations prohibit aircraft from flying below 3,000 feet and within 3 miles of Disney theme parks in the United States.

Flying over Disney’s Anaheim theme parks requires waivers approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration. Certain law enforcement, medical and military aircraft are exempt from the restrictions.
