Anytime you take I-90 into New York, you won't go through a toll booth.
But you'll still pay to use the road.
New York is turning its thruway into a cashless toll road.
Now, instead of toll booths, you'll drive past scanners, which will photograph your license plate.
Then, you'll get a bill in the mail.
Travelers think the new system is a good idea and should speed up travel on the interstate.
"I think it's a wonderful for drivers to not stop and pause. It's a smooth transition. That's the future," said Harry Valand of Ontario.
New York is no stranger to cashless tolling.
It already uses the practice on major bridges.
