Not every Oscar nominee will be going home Sunday night with a shiny gold statuette. But even those who miss out on a gong will have something to celebrate as they'll receive a coveted goody bag worth $225,000, according to Forbes.
This year's "Everyone Wins" gift bag, courtesy of Los Angeles-based niche marketing firm Distinctive Assets, has some incredible swag in store for the likes of Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, and Joaquin Phoenix. The firm is not affiliated with the Oscars or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, but its gift bags have become an award season tradition in Hollywood over the past 20 years.
This year's biggest ticket item—and the most expensive in the company's history—is a 12-day cruise valued at $78,190. The nominees will receive a voucher to redeem the holiday on the Scenic Eclipse, which carries only 228 guests, to destinations including Antarctica and the Mediterranean.
Other extravagant gifts include a year's membership with Drawing Down The Moon Matchmaking worth $20,000, according to Forbes. Perhaps Brad Pitt, whose made much of his single status in his recent award speeches, might enjoy the U.K. agency's bespoke service?
Not all the items are pricey, however. The cheapest item is a two-pack of dark chocolate Milanos, which cost less than $5.
And stranger items included among the gifts is the Peezy Midstream, a medical urine collection system, and a "brain sensing" meditation headband worth $250.
According to Insider, nominees will also receive foot spray made from herbal remedies, a vape pen with a 24-karat gold finish, and card games by Exploding Kittens. They'll also receive a custom stained glass portrait by glass master John Thoman.
"While this gift bag does always have an impressive value, that is never our goal. A great gift has nothing to do with a price tag," Distinctive Assets founder Lash Fary said.
"This year's gift bag is one of the best we have ever assembled. I am truly excited for the nominees to experience it."
All 25 nominees in the acting and directing categories usually receive the gift bags, but there is one less than usual this year since Scarlett Johansson is nominated in both the leading and supporting actress categories for her roles in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit.
"Maybe I'll reach out to see if [Johansson] wants to donate the second one," Fary told Forbes.
The gift bags are shipped off to the nominees in the week before the ceremony in suitcases, according to the magazines. But Fary says there's usually one nominee who doesn't accept the swag. Last year, it was Glenn Close who asked for hers to de donated to a women's charity.
But none of this year's Oscar nominees have turned down the gift bag.
