Billie Eilish took home the Best New Artist trophy tonight at the 2020 Grammy Awards. She won over Lil Nas X, Lizzo, ROSALÍA, Maggie Rogers, Tank and the Bangas, Black Pumas, and Yola. In her acceptance speech, Eilish focused on the importance of fans. “Mainly I think the fans deserve everything,” she said. “I feel like they have not been talked a bout enough tonight.” She also addressed the other Best New Artist nominees. “All the other artists that were in this category, I love you all.”
Earlier tonight, Eilish took home the award for Song of the Year for “bad guy.” Eilish’s debut LP WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? also took home the award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.Plus, FINNEAS won Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.
Eilish was nominated for four other Grammys this year: Album of the Year (WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?), Record of the Year (“bad guy”), Best Pop Solo Performance (“bad guy”), and Best Pop Vocal Album (WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?). She is the youngest artist ever to be nominated in all four major categories (AOTY, SOTY, ROTY, and Best New Artist), all of which she won tonight.
