In terms of Royal events, the Festival of Remembrance is known as one of the toughest to dress for. Although the black colour palette is deceptively simple, it is not however without its nuance. Far from the the same sombre tone of the Sunday service this was a chance for the royals to get creative as they tried to echo the grandeur of the event.
Both Meghan and Kate had to simultaneously dress for the grandeur of the event whilst not overshadowing the very reasons for it.
On Saturday, Both Kate and Meghan showed us their offerings and they did not disappoint.
The Duchess of Cambridge impressed with her elegant and reserved choice of a simple navy dress with a bateau neckline.
She finished the look off with a a velvet belt, velvet heels and a thrifty headband.
Kate managed to transform her look with the addition of a simple head band which has become her signature look.
The £17.99 padded rhinestone headband from Zara is a more affordable choice.
The headband has become one of her signature looks, and has seen her make the trend her own.
Perhaps the most daring part of the outfit was the debut of a new tiara and pearl and diamond earrings on loan from the queen herself.

The Queen wore a black floral-patterned tweed dress with a strand of pearls, a diamond brooch and diamond and pearl earrings, all finished with a slick of red lipstick.
The stylish outfits come as last week it was announced the Queen would no longer wear real fur.
The Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly revealed that the royal is swapping from animal to faux fur.
Writing in The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, she said: “If Her Majesty is due to attend an engagement in particularly cold weather, from 2019 onwards fake fur will be used to make sure she stays warm.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: "As new outfits are designed for the Queen, any fur used will be fake.”
However, it has since been made clear the move will not mean the Queen won’t wear old fur clothing that she possesses simply that she won’t be commissioning its use any more.
The Spokesperson saying: “The Queen will continue to re-wear existing outfits in her wardrobe.”
